The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead and drive commercial growth across the Eastern US region. Based in the Greater Boston area, you will play a pivotal role in expanding 4basebio’s footprint in the CGT landscape by identifying, qualifying, and securing new business while deepening relationships with existing biotech and pharmaceutical customers.
This is a field-based role with regular site visits, participation in regional trade shows, and periodic international travel, including to our UK headquarters. You’ll be instrumental in establishing 4basebio as the go-to synthetic DNA partner in a dynamic and rapidly evolving market.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
Minimum 7 years of technical sales experience in CGT or biologics CDMO/CMO services, ideally involving the sales of plasmid DNA, mRNA, viral vectors, or cell therapy manufacturing services.
Deep knowledge of synthetic biology and gene therapy workflows, including GMP manufacturing and regulatory considerations.
Well-established network of contacts in key biotech hubs (Boston, Philadelphia, RTP, Maryland) across pharma and biotech.
Proven success introducing disruptive technologies into complex life science markets.
Extensive experience with the use of Salesforce or similar CRM software systems
Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a territory business plan to achieve quarterly and annual sales goals.
Identify, qualify and win new business opportunities across biotech and pharmaceutical accounts in your territory.
Build a robust customer base and opportunity pipeline by leveraging your network, prospecting, and attending industry events.
Champion 4basebio’s synthetic DNA platform and drive adoption of synthetic DNA by presenting technical and commercial value propositions to R&D scientists, manufacturing leads, and C-suite executives.
Coordinate technical deep-dives with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to support and progress customer evaluations.
Manage complex customer relationships and efficiently guide clients through the transition from plasmid DNA to synthetic DNA.
Represent 4basebio at regional, national and international conferences and trade shows to generate new leads and enhance brand visibility.
Serve as the voice of the customer (VOC) to inform internal product development and strategic planning.
Stay current on CGT industry trends, scientific advances, and regulatory developments.
Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasts and maintain up-to-date CRM records, quotes, and account strategies.
Frequent travel (weekly) within the territory to visit develop new customer relationships and support key accounts. This is a field sales-based role with the expectation to travel in the field at least 50% of the time.

We are expanding our R&D teams at our site in Cambridge, UK to facilitate the scaling of our proprietary DNA manufacturing process including RNA synthesis and development of nanoparticle vectors for nucleic acid delivery. We are looking for dynamic and experienced team members to help us achieve our ambitions and goals.
Job purpose:
To contribute to new client or collaborator on RNA synthesis and related R&D projects. Contribute to development of novel RNA based products offering solutions in therapeutic and applied space.
Responsibilities:
Work as part of the RNA team, to be able of generating consistent and valuable data for collaborative and client based projects
Perform screening and optimisation experiments using 4basebio DNA for in vitro transcription (IVT) for various applications (mRNA, saRNA and circRNA)
Perform RNA purification and analytics on mRNA and saRNA produced with IVT
Nanopore based direct RNA sequencing of IVT products and its analysis
Execute and deliver projects to a high standard and in accordance with project plans
Analyse and interpret experimental data; identify and solve experimental problems
Work collaboratively and support the R&D functions of the company
Record experimental methods and results to a high standard and in-line with company guidelines
Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training, and development sessions
Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

Person Specification:

Knowledge and practical experience in molecular biology with focus on RNA based techniques
Experience in analytical techniques including agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, nanopore RNA sequencing, capillary electrophoresis, ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry, dot blot
Excellent record keeping skills
Ability to test and troubleshoot new assays and techniques

We are seeking an enthusiastic Lab Technician to support the smooth operation of their labs near Cambridge. The ideal candidate should have 1 to 2 years’ experience in a similar role with a background in biology, good knowledge of molecular biology and basic lab equipment.
Job purpose:
To support our lab management with maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in our laboratories.
Responsibilities:
Maintain adequate stock levels of general laboratory consumables, common chemicals, reagents, enzymes, media etc. in central storage locations
Inventory support for consumable, reagents and equipment
Perform environmental tests and lab-based assays
Assist with training staff for correct use of equipment and inventory software
Assist with ordering procedure: stock take, order and quote requests
Assist with goods-in procedure: receiving, documenting, and distributing deliveries
Support sample storage in ULT freezer equipment, assist teams with allocating storage space
Support shipping of products to customers and collaborators, liaising with courier services
Assist with lab cleaning rotas, equipment maintenance/ inspection and cleaning
Overseeing correct disposal of laboratory waste and assisting with waste removal as required
Ensure compliance with Quality policies, SOPs and Health and Safety procedures
Undertake any other appropriate roles and responsibilities that reasonably fall within the role holder’s skills and experience as requested
